Sergio Mejia
Sergio Mejia is an internationally recognized Director, Creative Director and Choreographer originally from Southern California. Sergio started as a dancer and actor performing around the world. Sergio resided in Buenos Aires for several years where he had been head choreographer and a creative director for Disney Channels hit television shows “Violetta”, “Soy Luna” and “Bia.”
Sergio has worked on several events around the world where he has Directed/Choreographed for Leann Rimes, Christina Aguilera (assistant Choreographer), Alejandro Fernandez, Walt Disney Domestic and International, Clear Channel, Xbox, Disney Channel, Dreamworks, GOOGLE, Nickelodeon, Latin Billboard Awards, CBS, MTV, VH-1, NCAA, Universal Studios Japan and Celebrity Cruises just to name a few. Sergio is fluent in English, Spanish and speaks Portuguese as well as some Japanese.
Sergio worked in Brazil where he had a cast of 350 performers for a Historic Disney Parade down Copacabana beach in Rio De Janeiro. Sergio also choreographed a visual spectacle for Leann Rimes for the Macys Day Parade featured on NBC. Sergio choreographed a performance by Alejandro Fernandez at the Latin Billboard Awards. Sergio has also choreographed music videos, commercials as well as a television series for MTV. Sergio has worked in Japan where he wrote, Directed and Choreographed several new shows for Universal Studios in Japan, two which were nominated for an IAPPA Award. Sergio also Choreographed a holiday show for Dreamworks. Sergio also Co-Directed and Choreographed a “Violetta Live” and “Soy Luna” world tour which has had record-breaking success throughout Latin America and Europe. Sergio starred in a Disney Channel Dance Along show where he taught several portions of his choreography from the hit series “Violetta”. In 2021 Sergio was in China where he created a new show as well as choreographed a new parade for the opening of Universal Studios Resort Beijing. Sergio Choreographed “¡Americano!” a new musical at New World Stages in New York City where he received all positive reviews, an SDCF Best Choreography nomination and an HOLA award for Outstanding Production. Sergio also Choreographing “On Your Feet” for Phoenix Theater Company. Sergio is currently working on a large scale Electronic Christmas Show he Created and will be Directing for Universal Studios in Japan in 2023.
While in Argentina filming for the Disney Channel, Sergio was in charge of all the musical creative moments within the television series. Some of his duties included, conceptualizing ideas to fit within a script as well making sure these ideas could all be executed properly by several areas including music, set design, props, wardrobe, hair and make-up. Sergio also created all choreography along with a team of assistant choreographers he managed.
